Are barbiturates addictive?

My partner has been taking large amounts of barbiturates. When I noticed there was a problem I confronted the person about it and that person told me to not worry so much because barbiturates are not addictive.

Physical addiction alone can take weeks to get over but the psychological addiction is likely and life long. Be careful with use of these types of drugs.
