Can a person get addicted to weed?

My good friend claims that he plans to become a frequent user of weed and i keep telling him he will ruin his life and get addicted. He denies it and said its not addicted, but if that is true why do so many people find themselves unable to stop.

I think the people that are at greater risk of addiction for those who smoked it to sleep or to get rid of headaches otherwise I'm not entirely sure. Generally by a rule of thumb is if you aren't sure don’t test the theory.. Don’t smoke weed.
