How long does it take to get over alcohol withdrawal?

I’ve relied on alcohol for every single thing in life over the past ten years. All my highs and lows were toasted with a bottle. Now, I’m coming off it, how long will it take me to get over it?

The first few days will be very hard, and you’ll probably feel worst on day 3 with all the nausea, sweats, chills, spikes in your blood pressure and heart rate. Sleeping may be difficult and some people experience hallucinations. After around a week, you should be through the physical withdrawal but emotionally you will have to manage your cravings.
