shot up for the last time a little over a day ago and I feel like I’m going to die. How long are these withdrawals going to last, and how much worse will they get?

It’s great that you’re trying to stop using, but you’d be better off going to a methadone clinic. You’ll probably only feel that sick for about three days before you turn a corner and start to feel a little bit better. Heavy drug users usually still have some sort of withdrawal symptoms a week after they stop using.

Well, you’re probably about halfway through the hardest part. Those first three days are going to be nasty, but most of the bad symptoms should start to go away after that. If it gets too bad, go up to the emergency room and tell them what you’re trying to do. Sometimes they can put you in touch with a program or give you some methadone to get through the worst of it.
