My brother has been going to AA for like 6 years, and I feel like I need to heal from the time he spent lost to alcohol. Can I go to AA with him, or is it only for alcoholics?

You can go, and they might help you to learn how to cope and to better understand the disease. There are support groups for family members if you’re more comfortable with that. AA helps alcoholics to work the 12 step program and to lean on each other for support. Just remember not to be judgmental and to listen and not be rude or bitter.

I’m sure that they won’t turn you away. It’s a group where they can come together and feel comfortable about talking about their addiction. They talk about the program they use, and sponsor each other in their sobriety. Just go with an open mind and a closed mouth.
