I don’t feel that I have a drug abuse problem, but my family seems to think otherwise. They keep telling me that doing drugs is a bad thing, regardless of how often I use them. Can you please explain what the symptoms are to a drug addiction so that I can convince my family I don’t have a problem?

You can die from drug use off of just one hit depending on what drug you are taking. There is no way to know what is in the drugs that you are ingesting. If you feel that you cannot live the rest of your life without doing drugs, you have a drug addiction problem.

If you notice that you crave the drugs and have a hard time doing anything without them, you may be addicted to them. Some drugs, such as prescription medications are fine to take from time to time to alleviate pain or treat a medical condition. Taking illegal substances is never safe to do because you never know what you are ingesting.
