  5. What are symptoms of drug withdrawal?
Asked: 2018-05-31 22:58:25
I want to be able to quit using drugs but am so afraid of what I will have to go through as I detox. Is it true that the symptoms are as bad as they make them out to be in the movies or are they just exaggerating for effect?

In the movies withdrawal symptoms are typically exaggerated to make for good television. You will experience headaches, body cramping, chills, fever, and nausea as you detox, but there are medications available that can lessen the symptoms greatly to make the process easier for you.

When you are detoxing from drugs, the affects you feel will vary depending on what job you are detoxing from. Many people experience similar withdrawal symptoms, though. Most addicts experience nausea, headaches, and a slight fever when they detox. Some experience shaking, insomnia, and irritability, as well.
