What is a drug addict?

I know that you can use drugs without becoming an addict, but what would be considered a drug addict? My boyfriend thinks that just because he uses everyday doesn’t mean he is an addict.

Lack of self control, the cravings of drugs everyday, the denial of a drug problem and emotional changes, are all great indicators of a drug addict.
