I thought you just needed to take drugs once to be a drug addict, but I guess i’m wrong. What makes someone a drug addict?

A drug addict is someone who is heavily dependance on a drug. It could be just physical but most likely included is an emotional dependance

Some people can use drugs on occasion or as directed by their doctor and never become addicted to drugs. Its when you feel the need to take them all the time, is when you are addicted.
