  5. Will ativan help with opiate withdrawal?

I’m exploring ways to come off pain meds that are opiate-based and someone mentioned that Ativan would be a lifesaver. Is that the case?

No, I wouldn’t agree. Ativan is used for alcohol withdrawal sometimes but it’s not a cure-all. It can have bad reactions with opiates so I’d be careful.

Yep, it’s a benzo so it will help with the absolute terror you feel and also take away muscle aches and pains, including easing restless leg syndrome. Just make sure the opiates are out of system before you take any.

It can help, but it's not a good idea to just take random Benzos you find in your medicine cabinet. One of the times I was in a detox center, Ativan was one of the meds gave me to help with the withdrawal. It was only that one time, and every other time I went to detox, I was usually given Suboxone.
