Can I force my family member into rehab and if I do will they benefit or it is a waste of time?

People usually say that the addict has to want to stop to get better, but from past experiences I haven't found this true in all cases.

Currently I work at a rehab facility and work hands on with the people who are admitted. Some of them are forced by court order others come because family pushed them too. From what I've seen it doesn't matter if a person is manipulated, forced or thinks they want to get free of addiction. The ones that desperately desire to stay sober and clean do and the other dont. Either way rehab can plant the seed of recovery in someone who isnt even remotely close to seeking it for themselves.
