  5. Are hydrocodone opiates?

I’ve been on hydrocodone now for a lengthy time from having two major back surgeries. I’m working on getting off this medication and I’m down drastically in the dose but my legs are keeping me up and headaches are overbearing. I looked into it and just found out what it really is and wanted the opinions of others who might have more understanding.

To answer your question, hydrocodone is a semi-synthetic opiate. As an opiate or opioid whatever you prefer, hydro is a narcotic that has analgesic effects that is commonly used in pill form to minimize pain experienced.
