The wife was release from the hospital yesterday after an ambulance was called for alcohol posioning. Is it possible that this was just a mistake or is she an alcoholic ..

Talk to her about what happened. Is she overly defensive about her drinking? Does she make excuses to drink more? Does she choose inappropriate times to drink alcohol? These are all signs of alcohol addiction.

Alcohol poisoning is a sign of someone drinking too much at a time. It does not, necessarily, mean that she's an alcoholic. I would keep an eye on her behavior just in case, and if she continues binge drinking like this than confront her about the possibility of being an alcoholic.
