What is prescription drug abuse?

My Mom is always telling me to not be so hard on Grandma because she has a prescription drug abuse. I don’t understand what that means, can someone clue me in?

It sounds like Grandma should go back to the Dr to get some help with her problem with prescription medication. Taking too many pills can be harmful to her.
