SO, I’ve always had chronic back pain and I’ve been on the same meds for years. I take them just like I’m supposed to and I can’t imagine wanting to feel so loopy all the time. Now, my doc wants to cut off my meds because of the number of people who abuse them. Why do some people abuse oxy?

Opioids work to make people feel less pain, but they also induce strong euphoria and a sense of happiness. For some who suffer from trauma or mental illness, this is the best way to escape. For others, it may be because they have unmedicated pain or because they develop a chemical dependency.

Oxycodone is a really powerful opioid, and some people have a stronger reaction to it than others. A person who has addiction will feel the euphoric effects more than someone who can control it. It really is a disease, and it’s almost like they have an allergic reaction to the drug.
