How do I help an alcoholic family member?

A few years back, her major problem was drinking too much. It appeared that she got it together and was not having difficulty with life, however turns out that was not what was going on. I need to help her but I dont know how.

I remember a few years ago when my brother was doing the same thing, he would get his life straightened out and then send it down the toliet again and again. My parents kicked him out of the house and he got sober on his own about a year later.
