  5. Where are interventions held?
Asked: 2019-01-21 17:56:20
My mother and I are thinking of staging an intervention for my sister and we have a few questions. The first is that we are wondering where they are held? I'm nervous about doing it at home and think that maybe a neutral place would be best, but then I am thinking if we would even be able to get her to show up. For those who have staged an intervention or had one staged for them, where was the intervention held? Thanks in advance.

We staged our intervention at home because my Mom lives here. I don't know what other people do. We had an interventionist who directed everything. I would recommend that you get one to. They are really good at keeping things from going to far off the rails. My mom didn't go into treatment until 3 days later but she's been clean for 82 days now. I would definitely get an intervention specialist to help you out with questions like that thought.

Interventions can be held anywhere from a personal residence to a therapists office. When intervened for my addiction, it was held at a Nation guard military base (my father's workplace). WIth that being said, an intervention can be done anywhere. However, it's best to have the assistance of a counselor or some type of professional.

They say it should a natural place - so your loved one doesn't feel like they are getting ganged up on. That being said just like Victoria and Madison said it can be done just about anywhere.

We did it at home in our living room. My parents, me, my sister, my brother's girlfriend and his best friend all got together and explained to him what we see. It was the first time I've seen my brother cry. He later said he appreciated doing it there because he had a feeling it was coming and he was already nervous so I'm glad my mom had the foresight to choose that place. Our intervention specialist was amazing. She was so genuine and took the time to get to know a lot of the details of my brother's story and she kept the conversation from going off the rails. I know a lot of people say to choose a place that's neutral but a familiar place turned out to be the best way for us to go.
