My question is do drug addicts go to aa meetings? I ask because I have overheard people talking about how they do alcoholics anonymous for program stuff rather than NA but they are primarily addicted to drugs... not alcohol.

So these programs work whether you are a drug addict or alcoholic. It does not matter which you go to. I can tell you that I am a drug addict.. well more of a trash can.. but I go to Alcoholics Anonymous because that is my program of choice. I respect the traditions and also go to different meetings like cocaine anonymous or heroin anonymous. All are the same to me as long as you are in a meeting and working a program it does not matter!

Yes of course Harley! I am a drug addict and I found a home in AA.

Harley, I can only assume that you have attended an AA meeting. You have heard the stories and you have have realized that they are all alcohol related. If you are okay and are finding the help you need with your AA peers then you are fine. But if you are finding that you would like a sponsor that is a little more relatable ( since it sounds like drugs was more your drug of choice ) or a group that is a little more drug recovery focused then maybe finding a local NA might be best. If you are okay with your AA peers then no need to change. NA or CMA or HA are all derived or based off the 12 Step principles founded by Bill W and Friends. Remember, Your recovery is what you make it and if AA is a place you find solid recovery then do not worry about it.
