Noticed my child is drinking nyquil everynight. A bit concerned about addiction.

If youre just taking Nyquil for your night time cough, then chances are youre not going to get addicted to it. However, if youre taking higher doses or mixing things like Nyquil and alcohol to achieve a high then this is a sign of addictive behavior. This is becoming a problem across the nation with teenagers, with around 3% of teenagers admitting to addiction, and many starting with whats found in the bathroom cabinet. Nyquil has a couple of different properties, but it is a drug that affects the central nervous system, so it is possible to become addicted to it. A normal dose is around 10 30 mg so if youre taking more than to get a Nyquil high, then you may be addicted.

The Nyquil ingredients that get you high dextromethorphan or DXM, affect your central nervous system, so although its not like taking a hit of heroin or an ecstasy pill, you will want to feel that way again. If you continue to use it at higher doses than its meant for, then you will develop a dependency on it. Now href="https://www.consumerreports.org/drug-safety/dangers-of-teens-abusing-cough-meds-with-dextromethorphan/"<14 states have laws in place where you must produce ID to buy products that contain DXM, such is the problem with teens abusing it.

Sad to say but you can get addicted to nyquil. I actually relapsed on the stuff after being sober for 8 months. I saw it in the cabinet and thought to myself it might get me drunk so I drank it.

Nyquil is an over the counter drug that is commonly abused in society. If a drug has abuse potential its addicting.
