What is the effect of drug abuse?

I have just found out that for years my 30-year-old daughter has been abusing drugs. I really had no idea, but I hadn’t seen much of her as she lives in another city. I am flying out to see her next week and I need to prepare myself. What effects will the drug abuse have had?

It really depends on the kind of drug she has been abusing and how she has been taking it. If she’s been using needles then you will probably see more of it on her body and face, whereas pills may have less effect externally. Her immune system will be weakened so that can lead to sores. Her liver may be damaged and she may be emotionally quite fragile.
