What makes an alcoholic?

I have such a wide variety of friends, and i’ve noticed some of us are quite heavy drinkers and then some of us choose not to drink as much. I guess my question is what is it that makes an alcoholic?

An alcoholic is a very hard serious drinker, someone who has a problem with alcohol and can’t quit on their own.
