Why do people get addicted to vicodin?

So, my boyfriend says he is addicted to Vicodin but how is that possible if it is a pharmaceutical medication? I’m confused.

Vicodin is a Opiate and Heroin is an Opiate. Pharmaceutical drugs are just as dangerous as street drugs. Make sure you’re there to support your boyfriend because what he is going through isn’t easy. Best wishes to him!
