Can you recover from alcoholism

We've known each other since we were dumb, young teenagers and have been officially in a relationship now for a year. His drinking has increased in the past 2/3 months and I have a feeling he is dealing with alcoholism. Is this something he can recover from?

Alcoholism is a progressive disease that continues to get more bad as time goes on. If your boyfriend wants to get sober and recover he can if he puts in adequate efforts. I must tell you though, there is nothing you can or can not do that will change the state that he is in. This is a tough road to be on.
