I would rather not be experiencing the pain associated with withdrawaling from opiates. Is there any thing to curb the effects of opiate withdrawal? If not, will alcohol help decrease the intensity of the withdrawal?

There is no doubt that alcohol will only make opiate withdrawal worse… much worse.

I was addicted to prescription Opiates for years and Ive tried every possible way to detox. Alcohol and opiate withdrawals do not mix one bit. In 2016, there were 11.5 million people who abused narcotic pain relievers! I bet the majority of those people can tell you alcohol and withdrawals do not mix. I would take an epsom salt bath, stock up on ginger and tums. It isnt fun to come off opiates. It is painful but in my experience, prolonging your use because your afraid of withdrawal is more painful. Addiction is no joke and if you dont think you can Withdrawal on your own, look up some detox centers in your area! Good luck. https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/000949.ht

I dont think drinking while withdrawing from Opiates will help you. In 2011, 948,000 people admired to using Heroin in the past year! I think those 948,000 people will tell you the same- alcohol wont help your withdrawals. Go into a medically assisted detox. Its your best bet of having less painful withdrawals and finding treatment for long term recovery. You dont just need detox, you need intense help along the way of your recovery journey! Good luck. Withdrawlas suck but its over in a few days. https://medlineplus.gov/ency/article/000949.ht

On the basis of my personal experience- if I were you I would stay away from drinking alcohol because it does not make the pain go away nor does it numb you whatsoever. It screws up your stomache even more than it already is because of the opiate withdrawal and it results in the withdrawal becoming incredibly harder.

Alcohol can technically help you fall asleep if youre going through opiate withdrawals but it isnt safe. Ive drank while coming off opiates and I ended up getting really sick. I couldnt stop throwing up. I hope this helps. Good luck on your journey to recovery! The pain of withdrawal is worth it!

I personally dont think alcohol will do anything for you if youre coming off Opiates. The only think it will do besides make you sicker is distort your reality. If youre about to withdrawal, try a medically assisted detox center! It is safer and the staff can help you find treatment.
