I've watched this place go from Baylor Richardson, to Richardson Regional, to Richardson Methodist. My dad spent several months here in 2001/2002 and they took really great care of him. The ER staff caught his stroke early enough to monitor and treat him while he had the stroke in the hospital, so the damage ended up being much less severe than it could have been. They did a great job doing surgery as well to repair the damage he did suffer, and they were also the ones who caught his cancer. I don't remember the names of the doctors because I was in first grade when it all happened, but I am thankful to every doctor, nurse, therapist, and tech who cared for him. A lot of my only memories of my dad are in this hospital. Watching as he got rushed to emergency surgery from the ER, seeing him unconscious in the ICU, celebrating when he was well enough to get transferred to the general med/surg unit. Eating meals in the cafeteria downstairs with my parents when my dad was feeling good enough, spending time watching TV together in his room, coming with him when he tried to walk the halls and watching his progress as he slowly became able to take more steps on his own. This place also took excellent care of me in 2009 and 2011 when I had very painful kidney stones. Some of my friends delivered their babies here as well. So it's kind of sad to see this place so dead now. Currently it's not a fully functioning hospital as most of the services have been moved to the newer campus on Renner by the toll road. It does, however, still have an emergency room which my family has continued to use from time to time when needed. Recently I've had some really bad experiences. Somehow they have gotten my medical records mixed up, and apparently someone else's information comes up when they try to access my medical records. I don't think this was so much the fault of this facility specifically, as much as the Methodist health system overall. What did bother me, though, was when the doctor kept making references to a condition that I don't have, and I pointed that out, it seemed like he didn't believe me. Why would I lie about something like that? I definitely felt like I wasn't taken seriously, plus having inaccurate records is extremely scary and could potentially have disastrous consequences. Anyways. I do want to give credit where credit is due. We did have a great experience when I brought my 6 year old daughter in last year for a rash that was causing a lot of itching and pain. (I would have taken her to Urgent Care but it was late so they were closed and my daughter was too uncomfortable to sleep.) I don't think we even waited 10 minutes before my daughter was seen. She was seen by Dr. DANIELLE HANSEN who was so incredibly kind, accommodating, and helpful. She gave my daughter some medicine, kept her for a little bit to make sure she didn't have any kind of reaction to it, and then sent us home with a prescription. In total I think we were there maybe 45 minutes. Thank you so much Dr. Hansen! So this place has its pros and cons just like anywhere else. But please, if someone tells you something that's written in their chart is wrong, listen to them!!

Terrible staff! We went for a hurt foot, only needed xray no meds. The doctors pop in for 2 seconds to order tests without making sure you're okay, the billing people TREATED us horrible we have insurance and they said we would be responsible 100% when we tried to leave they said we couldn't without signing papers saying we were responsible and leaving without Dr approval. They will also talk about their patients right outside the room we couldn't believe how they sat their and judged several patients on what they take. Good people don't treat people like this! WE WILL NEVER RETURN AND WILL TELL EVERYONE HOW HORRIBLE WE WERE TREATED.

I had a great experience . The er nurse was very polite and attentive. Aside from the wait to be admitted I have no complaints. The staff in the psychiatric floor on the north side were very nice and caring . This is the area for the elderly . While I’m not elderly , I do have bad hips so they allowed me to stay in that section so I would have access to the handicap showers etc. I would like to extend my deepest thanks to Pam, Valsa, and Sia. You guys are awesome .

The staff was horrible in electric shock therapy. Treated my son like terribly. The one nurse who seemed to be the head nurse Diane was so rude and had no compassion for his needs or concerns.

The only good thing about this hospital are the nurses. They were the only ones who care. The psychiatric ward treats its patients horribly. The emergency room also has terrible service. From my experience, the moment I entered the emergency room, a lady came to collect insurance information and assumed my race by guessing various ethnicities. When I had said no to all of her assumptions, she looked embarrassed and rephrased her question to ask open endedly what my race was. Afterwards, by protocol, anyone who is having a mental health crisis must talk to a social worker as well as the doctor. The social worker, Sydney, immediately came in and crossed her arms asking, “What brings you here today?” I felt uncomfortable talking with her, so I asked her about how she got into the work she does. She responded with, “I’m really good at what I do. People tell me they feel comfortable around me. It doesn’t matter if people like me or not...” that was just a summary of her words. In the end, because I was admitted on a Friday, they decided to hold me inpatient until Monday, since they don’t have enough “workers to discharge on the weekends.” As someone who has worked a job with on-calls, it doesn’t matter if I’m working or not. From my understanding, heath doesn’t just take a break on the weekends. People have ups and downs 24/7. Even if I wasn’t working, if I needed to report something or help a coworker out, I did, because that is just my expectation. The psychiatric ward in honesty was more of the traumatic experience than anything else. The patients are treated as “crazy” for just having a chemical imbalance. I think it’s valid for people to have feelings as humans due to circumstances. Being in a hospital can be disheartening especially when you have to think about the change in plans, the fact that you’re stripped of your freedoms and can’t really contact your loved ones, and that if you say the wrong thing, it can be taken the wrong way. Doctors and social workers will take any behavior or thing you say as a way to assume about how you are as a person and “diagnose” you with certain issues. It was like playing a game to survive the Hunger Games vs Orange is the New Black just to get clearance to be discharged. As humans, we like to read into things and find “patterns” which is why mental health is so hard to treat. Sure, there are limitations on how the professions can treat the patients, but empathy can go a long way. It doesn’t always have to be about following protocol to save your own jobs and survive, maybe take time to see what you can do for others while still staying in the confines of your job protocols. Our system isn’t the best, but it’s the best we have right now. It can be improved. I think this hospital can work on better communication between its workers and the police officers who might mention to the patients that the heath care service will be “free.” (Not true by the way for obvious reasons, even the insurance lady laughed at my face). The patients I met during my stay were just people too. Each of them had a different story and had stayed there for various amounts of times, but they deserve just as much respect. The hospital should be there to help treat the patients, not have them walk out worse. My heart rate would not go down after I got discharged until I talked to another doctor at a different hospital who reassured me about my treatment. I hope this helps others know to seek help and really communicate with those around you if you are blessed enough to have loved ones who support you. If not and you’re forced to go to the hospital, hopefully it’s a better experience than this. Thank you.

If I could rate even lower than a 1 I would. I was in terrible pain. No one was in the wating room. Two staff members were behind the counter talking and laughing They told me to fill out the paper put it in the bin and someone would call me. They continued to sit there and talk and laugh. After waiting my husband looked in the area behind the glass and said no one was in there. We informed them of this and he said they will be with us shortly. I asked could you please go tell them we are here. He said, they we be here shortly again. When I started to talk to him telling him I was in severe pain. He pulled his chair up to the monitor so he couldnt see me. I asked him what his name was and he replied, How May I Help You? I asked again and he said the same thing. The other person came out and I told her about his attitude and she said I dont know why he won't tell you his name, but his name is Quiency. This was on March 5th late at night. Don't go there, they don't care about people I'm sure it depends on what night you go. Quincy was rude and had no compassion whatsoever!!!! We ended up leaving and I found whatever pain meds I could to make the pain go away. My bp was 195/92.

My husband went in for detox (drug/behavior unit) and although no detox is pleasent, my husband said that the staff was very positive, helpful, kind, patient and understanding. They also made me feel that I could trust them and also talked to me on how my husband was progressing. I really appreciate that they keep the family informed and have family sessions also, which really helped a lot. I highly recommend this detox/behavior unit. My husband said the doctors really pay attention to you and since it is a small unit they focus on all their patients.

I am from Houston, and came to Richardson, Texas because of a family reunion. My father, started feeling sick and I rushed him to the nearest hospital, which in this case was Methodist Richardson Medical Center. THANK GOD!!!! Within 15 mins of arrival my father went into congestive heart failure. Excellent patient care! From the receptionist to the doctor, everyone greeted my father promptly and addressed all my questions. The sign in process was painless. The nurse was friendly & helpful, and the doctor had the lab tests done & explained to me in a minimal amount of time. I was so impressed by how efficiently the staff operated & how clean the entire facility was. The last time I was in a Houston ER, I waited over an hour before I was even taken back to a room, and the ER wasn't even busy, and I still spent over 4 hours there. At Methodist Richardson Medical Center, everything (insurance, lab tests, doctor exam, etc..) was done in an hour. The ICU Staff went beyond my expectations. I do not words to express my gratitude specially to Ivan from the Radiology Department, thank you for being so kind to my father while sedated and taking his x-rays. At this hospital staff will treat you like people not like another number, very hospitable, caring, and efficient THANK YOU!!!!

Awesome place. Wife was put on bed rest in the hospital. They don't mind me having my family stayed together during the duration until labor. Even after labor, we were treated better than hotel guests while we visiting our baby

Dr. Leaf, and nurses Tasha and Gary were amazing. I went in and was in an extreme amount of pain. The check in process was easy and the nurses had great bedside manner. I was diagnosed by my crappy primary care doctor and was still in pain days later. I was so relieved when Dr. Leaf suggested more testing and confirmed the misdiagnosis. Now I'm on the right medications and on the right path to being healed.

Absolutely appalling. I went in with a laceration that required stiches. While still bleeding, it took 30mins to be checked in and I spent another hour and a half sitting in my room waiting to be attended to. I went to the nurses station to voice my concern and found 4 to 5 nurses doing absolutely nothing. I asked why I had waited so long to which she stated the doctor was busy with other patients. Not only was her demeanor snide and rude but also dismissive. I have never in my life been treated as bad at a ER or hospital. After this I left driving myself again while bleeding, I went down the road to Concentra and was in and out within an hour with everybody being jovial and helpful. I have contacted the director of the ER. NEVER use this Methodist location.

As a former psychiatric patient at Methodist Richardson, I was appalled at the behavior of the nursing staff’s and the horrific nursing care they delivered. As an RN myself, I was shocked when a Supervisor of psychiatrics YELLED at me because I “dared” to write a complaint about the care I was receiving. When I said to her, “You’re actually yelling at a depressed Patient?” She answered if you act depressed you will be depressed. Really??? This nurse said she had a long history of being a psychiatric nurse. Well I would revise that to she had a long history of being a poor psychiatric nurse! So what did she think she would accomplish by yelling at a vulnerable person? Did she think I would retract my written complaints? I was depressed…but depression doesn’t make me less intelligent or aware of horrific care. I saw the nurses on the floor ignoring patients…I had RN’s come into my room to give me meds as I was crying and not even ASK if she could help. The psychiatrist spent 5 minutes with me during his “evaluation. When he got up to leave, I said “That’s it? You’ve spent 5 minutes with me and you are going to base your recommendations on 5 minutes of talking with me?” I heard several other patients say they were treated the same. This psychiatric unit is more of a prison. I was scared to death. After leaving Richardson, I went to an in-patient facility and it couldn’t have been more different. I was amazed. How does Richardson Methodist get away with the kind of care they give there? Honestly, don’t send your loved ones there. Don’t put them through this kind nightmare. I KNOW what good nursing care entails, and this unit is the epitome of horrible, inept nursing care. They all should be ashamed of themselves for treating very vulnerable people with such disdain.
